Suitable for: Teachers, ECTs

Course code Keystages Presented by
ASS160 KS1
  • Elaine Williams (Assessment Consultant)

To participate in professional discussions to support moderation of writing.
To identify next steps for teaching following moderation.
To provide guidance for Year 2 teachers making judgements against statements from the Teacher Assessment Framework.
To benchmark evidence against national examples

From the academic year 2023/2024 schools are no longer required to submit data for children at the end of Key Stage 1 however moderation continues to be identified as best practice and the opportunity to engage in professional discussions with colleagues is invaluable.

This half day course allows participants the opportunity to explore standardisation materials, which will support a shared understanding of a standard and then participate in professional discussions about children's work. These discussions will then focus on identifying the next steps that are needed to support the child moving on in their learning.

Participants must bring with them examples of children's work that they wish to discuss. These can be WTS, EXS or GDS but a maximum of five children.
