Updated for 2024 – 2025 this course is for all Year 2 Teachers. It will provide updated guidance on effective assessment at the end of Key Stage 1 following the removal of statutory data submission. Discussion will focus on effective provision and assessment for reading and writing and time will be given to the formulation of teacher assessment judgements against national expectations, potential use of assessment data and requirements of reporting to parents. The session will also include agreement trialling of Writing for Key Stage 1 using standardisation materials. There will also be discussions about effective strategies to support children to achieve their next steps in learning.

Please bring examples of a child's writing currently in Year 2 who is working within age expectations at this point in the year.

This course may also be useful for Assessment Coordinators and Headteachers to provide an overview of effective assessment and development of secure teacher assessment.
