Tom and Mark

"The best thing has to be the satisfaction and feeling of pride we get from witnessing child development and seeing their confidence building, knowing that you’ve played a part is humbling."

Mark, aged 37 and Tom, aged 33 are new foster carers who are currently caring for a 15-year-old boy. They said:

"We’ve had a fantastic experience so far, the support has been phenomenal from social workers, mentors and other foster carers.

"The best thing has to be the satisfaction and feeling of pride we get from witnessing child development and seeing their confidence building, knowing that you’ve played a part is humbling.

"We’ve had some lovely day trips out, sharing a trip to Alton Towers quite early on in our match was really fun and a wonderful way to get to know each other.

"The matching team work really hard to find the right fit and work closely with social workers to give placements the best chance of success. We knew on hearing the pen profile of the child we look after that we had so much to offer them in terms of our own life experience, on completion of our assessment that is the match we moved forward with and it has turned out really well."
