Diane, 50, has been fostering with Lancashire for nearly 12 months and is currently caring for a 17-year-old young person. She shared her experience of fostering teenagers and the support she has received since becoming a foster carer.

Speaking about her experience of fostering, Diane said:

The support has been fantastic. People were quite negative when I started the whole process, but I have had so much support and more.

You have many opportunities to train and learn lots.

I currently have a lovely 17-year-old. We are working together and learning things, while preparing her for adulthood.

Don't let the word 'teenager' put you off. They just need a safe, warm environment to thrive and become amazing adults. Put yourself in their shoes. We all deserve everything and more.

I have had many brilliant days.
