Terms and conditions

Competition prizes and prize winners

  • The prize is non-transferable and non-refundable.
  • No cash alternative, charity donation or substitution prize will be offered.
  • Any other costs and expenses which are not specifically included in the Prize description are excluded and will be the sole responsibility of each winner.

Submission and acceptance

  • No purchase necessary.
  • The personal details provided by entrants will only ever be used by Lancashire County Council and the judges for the purposes of administering this competition and will not be shared with any other party.
  • Online entry will open on Monday 22 June 2026 to Friday 12 September at 12 noon. No entries will be allowed before or after this time.
  • In the event of any dispute regarding the rules or other matters related to the competition, the judges’ decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into with entrants.
  • Withdrawal from the competition can take place at any time until the winners are announced.
  • Should a winner want to withdraw from the agreement to share personal data they can do so, and the prize will be awarded to the next placed winner.

Eligibility

  • Entry and free and nominees must be residents of Lancashire within Lancashire County Council's administrative area or individuals/groups whose work has a demonstrable positive impact within Lancashire, unfortunately we cannot accept nominations from Blackpool or Blackburn with Darwen.
  • Nominators may nominate themselves or others, provided all information submitted is accurate.
  • Employees of Lancashire County Council may be nominated, but internal judging safeguards will be applied to avoid conflicts of interest.
  • Entries must not infringe the rights of any other party. The competition organisers accepts no liability if entrants ignore these rules and entrants agree to fully indemnify Lancashire County Council against any claims by any third party arising from any breach of these rules.

Nomination Process

  • All nominations must be submitted through the official Pride in Lancashire Awards online form or via agreed routes for written forms.
  • Each nomination must include:
    • Full name and contact details of the nominator
    • Full name of the nominee
    • Contact details of the nominee if permission is received
    • A written statement describing why the nominee deserves recognition
  • Nominations submitted after the published deadline will not be considered.
  • Lancashire County Council reserves the right to verify information provided in any nomination.

Judging and selection

  • Nominations will be reviewed by an independent judging panel appointed by Lancashire County Council.
  • Judges will assess nominations based on:
    • Contribution to the community
    • Impact on Lancashire residents
    • Alignment with the values of Pride in Lancashire
  • The judging panel’s decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

Award categories

  • Categories will be published on the official event website and may be updated annually.
  • Lancashire County Council reserves the right to assign nominations to a suitable category if necessary.
  • Lancashire County Council may withdraw or merge categories if insufficient qualifying nominations are received.

Communication and publicity

  • By submitting a nomination, nominators and nominees agree that Lancashire County Council may:
    • Contact them for further information
    • Use their name, image, and nomination story for promotional purposes
    • Feature them in event materials, press releases, and social media
  • Nominees may opt out of publicity by contacting the event team, except where required for award administration.

Data Protection

  • All personal data will be processed in accordance with the UK GDPR and Lancashire County Council’s privacy policies.
  • Information will be used solely for the administration of the awards unless explicit consent is provided for additional uses.
  • We will collect, process and retain the following data for anyone entering the Pride in Lancashire awards.
  • Contact name.
  • Contact telephone numbers.
  • Contact email address.
  • We ask that entrants do not share other personal information.
  • We will use your data to communicate with you on matters relating to the Pride in Lancashire awards.
  • We rely on our legitimate interests in this instance to cover everyone who enters the competition and appears at the celebration awards.
  • Members of the public present will be made aware of filming notices and be given the opportunity to decline to be filmed.
  • We will hold the personal data of the winning entries for a period of up to 5 years in order to comply with our regulatory obligations. After this time should we wish to use it again we will seek permission.
  • We will hold the personal data of all entrants for a maximum of one year, after which we will securely delete all files.
  • Any personal data shared on social media will remain online indefinitely unless you make a specific request to have it removed.

  • If you do request the removal of your personal details prior to the conclusion of the competition, you will forfeit your right to enter and/or claim any prize and we reserve the right to select another entrant to participate or withdraw the prize and select another winner, as applicable.

Event attendance

  • Finalists may be invited to attend the Pride in Lancashire Awards ceremony.
  • Attendance is encouraged but not mandatory to receive an award.
  • Lancashire County Council is not responsible for travel or accommodation costs unless explicitly stated.

Withdrawal of nominations

  • Lancashire County Council reserves the right to withdraw a nomination or award if:
    • False or misleading information is discovered
    • The nominee requests removal
    • Behaviour inconsistent with the values of Pride in Lancashire comes to light

Amendments

  • Lancashire County Council may update these Terms & Conditions at any time.
  • Any changes will be published on the official event website and will apply to all ongoing and future nominations.

Disclaimer

  • Lancashire County Council will not accept responsibility for competition entries that are lost, mislaid, regardless of cause, including, for example, equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind.

Variations and termination

Lancashire County Council reserves the right to amend at any time the terms and conditions or to terminate this competition. Entrants will be notified by email of any amendments.
