How to apply to become an approved premises for marriages and civil partnerships

Lancashire Registration Service are responsible for all approved premises in Lancashire.

In order to apply for the approval of premises for the solemnization of marriages and the registration of civil partnerships, you would need to complete an application form.

Guidance for venues: outdoor civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies

On receipt of the completed application documents, together with the relevant fee, we would arrange for a Public Notice of the application to be published on Lancashire County Council's website. 

We are required to allow 21 days from the date of the publication of the Public Notice for objections to be made by members of the public.

If there are no valid objections to the application, we arrange for an inspection of the premises by Lancashire Registration Service's Proper Officer for Registration.

Fees

The application fee is currently £500 for a 10 year period, and includes one year's annual declaration fee. Thereafter the annual declaration fee is £200 per year. This figure is subject to review from time to time by Lancashire County Council.
