2023 finalists

Thank you to everyone who sent in a nomination for the Staff Excellence Awards, this year we received 475 submissions. They showcased some of the outstanding work being carried out across the organisation. The calibre of the nominations was exceptionally high and everyone nominated should be extremely proud. 

Nominees for the 'unsung heroes' are those who make an outstanding contribution to the work of their teams or other people they support.  This award will recognise an individual who demonstrates flexibility, reliability and enthusiasm to provide an outstanding, but often unseen contribution. 

This year's finalists are:

  • Amy Hudson - Residential Care Assistant - Older People's Care Services
  • Sarah Crawford - Social Care Support Officer - County Reblement and Occupational Therapy and Demand Management
  • Susan Seargent - Social Care Support Officer - Learning Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health

  • Claire Walker - Staff Experience Manager - Peoples Service
  • Dolores Day - Cleaning Operative - Facilities Management

 

Nominees for this award have gone the extra mile in their job to achieve something truly outstanding or overcome adversity in their professional life to deliver excellent service. This category highlights our employees who are real ambassadors for the county council and a role model to their colleagues.

This year's finalists are:

  • Joseph Mount - Skills and Economic Intelligence Officer - Business Growth Skills Hub
  • Rachael Hesketh - Social Worker - Fostering Adoption Lancashire Blackpool and Residential Services
  • Sue Dyson - Learning and Development Officer - Skills Learning and Development

This award is designed to recognise colleagues whose outstanding contribution is directly recognised by the individuals or communities they support in their role. We are looking for an individual who demonstrates a passion for helping others and goes to great lengths to ensure our communities receive the best possible service.

This year's finalists are:

  • Lauren Aspinall - Social Worker - Education and Children's Services
  • Lisa Spencer - Youth Worker (Professional Range) - Children and Family Wellbeing Service
  • Sandra Silk - AONB Projects Officer - Planning and Environment 

With this award we were looking for managers who motivated and inspired their team. Our finalists all demonstrated a forward thinking approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.

This year's finalists are:

  • Ann Edwards - Coroners Service Manager - Coroners Service 
  • Emma Pughsley - Day Time Support Manager - Older People Care Services
  • Mairead Gill-Mullarkey - Countywide Head of Service for Mental Health - Countywide Mental Health

 

This award recognises a collection of individuals who, through working together, have made a significant and positive impact. The award recognises a team where, individually and collectively, each colleague continually strives for excellence in service delivery and/or customer service.

This year's finalists are:

  • Flood Risk Management 
  • LGBTQ+ Employee Network Core Group
  • Whitworth Library Team 

Our finalists are those who always try to help, support, motivate and develop other people. They know when those around them need extra support – and offer it. They are on hand to offer ideas and suggestion when required.

  • Gary Jones - Estates Manager - Estates 
  • Julie Dockerty - Policy, Information and Commissioning Senior Manager - Policy, Information and Commissioning (Live Well)
  • Steve Whelan - Manager - Disability - Disability

This category recognises someone that has been in their role for two years or less. Finalists could have previously held other roles within the authority.

This year's finalists are:

  • Diana Masunda - Social Worker - Child Protection/Children in Need Family Safeguarding
  • Kai Sinclair - Archive Assistant - Cultural Services
  • Tom Turner - Project Officer - Strategic Development

 

This award is designed to recognise an exceptional colleague that has been with Lancashire County Council for 20 years or more. Their service does not have to be continuous. They will have shown a passion for the role(s) that they have during this time and will encompass the vision and values. 

The award focuses on what they have achieved throughout their career, rather than one single contribution. 

The finalists are: 

  • Annie Blaney-Green - Team Manager - Quality Assurance Inspection and Safeguarding
  • David Slater - Locality Manager - Adult Disability Services
  • Wendy Cooper - Senior Operations Manager - Older People Care Services

Prizes 

Individual winners will receive a £50 Love2shop voucher and trophy. The Team of the Year receive a £250 restaurant voucher and a trophy. 

The winners for the following individual categories also win an extra day's leave; Employee of the Year, Manager of the Year, Pillar of Support, Making a Difference in our Community and Unsung Hero, Lifetime Achievement Award and Rising Star.
