Legal Services
The County Secretary and Solicitor's Group (formerly the Legal Services Group) provides a range of legal services to schools. Immediate advice and assistance is available from the Community Services Section of the Group under the terms of the Legal Advice Service scheme, which was introduced in 2000. The scheme is provided under the terms of a Service Level Agreement and, as of 2006/07, every maintained school and nursery in the County has elected to subscribe to that service.
Under the terms of the Service Level Agreement, schools have access to a small team of experienced lawyers who deal exclusively with enquiries from schools.
The scheme has been remarked upon favourably by the Audit Commission, and has been consistently praised by many Headteachers.
