  • Lynsey Norris (Senior Teaching and Learning Consultant-Primary)

•To identify the features of a child working at greater depth in Key Stage 1.
•To explore a range of greater depth tasks that are matched to National Curriculum learning objectives.
•To discuss the expected outcomes of a child working on these greater depth tasks.

Children who demonstrate an expected depth of understanding in a maths lesson should be further challenged to a greater depth. This can be achieved by setting appropriate tasks that link to the lesson objective and deepen children's understanding. This session will consider different types of greater depth task and the implications for teaching and learning. As part of this course, delegates will receive over 150 greater depth tasks for both Year 1 and Year 2 covering the whole of the mathematics National Curriculum, which can therefore be used to supplement any scheme.
