Course code Keystages Presented by
ENG147 KS1; KS2
  • Sarah Atkinson (Teaching and Learning Consultant - Primary English)
  • Louise Baker (Teaching and Learning Consultant - Primary English)

This course aims to equip subject leaders and teachers with a range of practical and engaging spoken language strategies, to underpin reading and writing approaches.

Drawing on the impact of the Talk Programmes across Early Years, Key Stages 1 and 2, and the many recent research documents around oracy and the importance of spoken language, this course will include a range of strategies and approaches for use in English and across the wider curriculum focusing on key learning in:
* Listening and Attention
* Speaking
* Standard English
* Vocabulary
* Participating, Presenting and Performing.

This course has equipped me with a whole toolkit of ideas to implement across our school. The strategies showcased can easily be applied to all year groups and I can't wait to get started! - (Delegate 2024)

Oracy and spoken language is a priority focus in my school this year and I cannot recommend this course highly enough to support the implementation in English with transferable strategies across the wider curriculum. It was useful to attend the course with my English Subject Leader so we can support all staff together. We have also planned to book two year groups on the Talk Programme courses - one from each key stage. - (Headteacher Delegate 2024)
