Updated for 2025/2026 This course is for all Year 2 Teachers. It will provide updated guidance on effective assessment at the end of Key Stage 1 following the removal of statutory data submission.

Discussion will focus on effective provision and assessment for reading and writing and time will be given to the formulation of teacher assessment judgements against national expectations and potential use of assessment data. During the session we will investigate a range of strategies to support children to reach age related outcomes. The session will also include agreement trialling of Writing for Key Stage 1 using standardisation materials.

Please bring examples of a child's writing that is currently on track to reach end of year expectations.

This course may also be useful for Assessment Coordinators and Headteachers to provide an overview of effective assessment and development of secure teacher assessment.
