Secondary Senior Leader Briefings (Half-termly briefings - Summer 2)

To provide senior leaders from secondary schools with updates and information sessions covering a wide range of current and high profile issues for schools. Key themes will be covered across the year. The updates will be provided by LA colleagues and Senior Leaders from schools and are likely to include the following areas:
• Quality of education
• Communication and literacy
• DFE, Ofsted and research updates
• Assessment
• Supporting specific groups of students including SEND and the disadvantaged
• Transition
• Intervention at KS3 and KS4
• Mathematics across the curriculum
• Key subject updates, including from the Languages Hub
Personal Development
• Behaviour and attendance updates
• Careers
• Well-being
• Post-16 updates
The briefings will also provide the opportunity for schools to network and share good practice and will include regular inputs from schools and a range of advisers, consultants and other LA teams.

The specific agenda for each half-termly briefing is published approximately one week before the briefing on the Senior Leader website This will also be circulated to schools via their adviser where appropriate.

Senior Leaders are also able to access the briefing handouts and resources on the Senior Leader website. Access details are provided at each briefing.

Schools not able to attend the briefing can still access the materials and should contact Alison Kenyon at for further details. Please note there will be a charge.

A range of inputs will be provided that reflect both national and local priorities, as highlighted above. Sessions will be provided by the Secondary Team of consultants, LA advisers and representatives from other LA teams and by school colleagues. The sessions will also provide school colleagues with the opportunity to network and share good practice.

Lunch will be provided from 12.45pm to 1.20pm. The briefing will start at 1.30pm.
