Suitable for: Headteacher, Subject Leaders, Teachers, ECTs, LTA

Course code Keystages Presented by
PTL140 KS1; KS2
  • Steph Johnson (Senior Teaching and Learning Consultant)

This course will look at:
- how to reduce teacher-talk and maximise pupil talk;
- practical strategies for engaging pupils in talk for learning; and
- a range of ideas which can be used across the curriculum.

Oracy underpins the most effective teaching and learning and, in March 2024, the Ofsted subject report on English stated the importance of pupils learning how to become competent speakers. This course will share a range of tried and tested practical strategies for maximising pupil talk across the curriculum.

This is a one hour twilight. Great Teaching Bitesize sessions allow busy teachers to focus on one or two key elements to help them reflect on, and enhance, their practice.
