To consider how PIVATS 5 PSED can be used to assess and support children with SEND, and additional needs, in developing independence, social awareness, behaviour for learning and emotional awareness
To have an introduction to the PIVATS 5 PSED toolkit and guidance on how this can be used to give practical support when planning learning, and interventions, within these areas

This course will explore how to assess children's development of independence and life skills, social awareness and relationships, behaviour for learning and emotional awareness. It will examine how to use these assessments to identify high value targets to inform planning for teaching and learning within these areas.

Delegates will be introduced to the practical, and user-friendly, PIVATS PSED Toolkit which has a wide range of practical ideas, strategies and resource cards to support teachers/learning mentors with planning lessons/interventions within the four strands.

This course is suitable for any teachers/learning mentors working with children/young people who are functioning within primary phase developmental age regarding these four areas of PSED.
