The first day of this two day course will explore the foundations of effective teaching and learning in English, with a focus on the key element of reading.
The course will also focus on how ECTs can best manage their workload and time, with a specific focus on 'marking' as feedback. It will also provide an opportunity for English ECTs to network with colleagues.
The second day of this two day course will build on the fundamentals of English teaching as covered in day one of the course. The focus will thus be on best practice in teaching different forms of writing to build on best practice in teaching reading.
The course will also explore how ECTs can further refine their practice and will be informed by the specific needs of delegates.
Whilst the focus is for ECTs, this course would be appropriate for recently qualified teachers and non-specialist English teachers. Furthermore, colleagues who did not attend day one are welcome to attend this session.
