Course code Keystages Presented by
LIT205 KS3; KS4; Post16
  • Katy McWean (Secondary English Consultant)

- To explore what are the components of effective writing and the importance and powerful use of accurate sentences.
- To explore what are the key components of grammar that should be explicitly taught across the curriculum.
- To explore how to support teachers to explicitly teach specific sentences structures to improve the quality of student writing.

If sentences are the building blocks of all writing, then ensuring students have mastery over the sentence will support effective writing overall. This course will focus on practical strategies for building clear and well-constructed sentences that would be applicable to all subjects across the curriculum, as well as support teachers to understand how to strengthen student writing through explicitly taught grammar.
