• Define what coherence and cohesion are with regards to children's compositions.
• Review subject knowledge of coherence and cohesive devices.
• Share practical strategies to support developing children's cohesion when writing.
• Explore the progression of cohesion through the primary phase and provide a practical toolkit to support its development.
Do you have pupils in your school whose writing is formulaic? Perhaps the writing is repetitive or in some cases, makes no sense at all! Maybe the writing is difficult to follow and you get lost when reading it. You find yourself asking, what's happening, where and to whom?
Cracking Coherence and Cohesion aims to support teachers when dealing with these issues. In this hour-long online session, a range of practical strategies and top-tips will be explored which can be applied to all age-ranges and classes. The resources will be shared, to all who attend, prior to the session. These resources can then be used to deliver the material in school.
Please note: This is a repeat of the Spring 2025 English Subject Leader CPD session. If you attended this course, the content will be the same.
