Primary English Bitesize: Perfecting Paragraphs

Suitable for: Subject leaders, teachers, ECTs, LTA,

Course code Keystages Presented by
ENG226 KS2
  • Katie Giles (Teaching and Learning Consultant - Primary English)

• Define what paragraphs are and explore how paragraphing progresses across the primary phase.
• Share practical strategies and age-appropriate games to support reading and writing paragraphs.
• Offer top tips for composing paragraphs, including effective planning and editing techniques.

Do you have Key Stage 2 pupils who struggle with paragraphing? Perhaps they are unsure when to start a new paragraph - or forget to use them altogether.
As a teacher, it can be challenging to plan practical, engaging activities that develop pupils’ understanding of paragraphs and equip them with transferable skills to apply in their own writing. This session is the perfect way to tackle these challenges head-on.

In this one-hour practical session, a range of strategies and resources will be shared to strengthen the teaching of paragraphs. The resources will be shared, to all who attend, prior to the session. These resources can then be used to deliver the material in school.

Please note: This is a repeat of the Autumn 2024 English Subject Leader CPD session. If you attended this course, the content will be the same.
