This new course is designed for English Subject Leaders to examine how to plan a unit of work in English in order to support colleagues in school.

The course will include:
• Principles of planning a unit of work for English
• Considering the process of planning using the teaching sequence for reading, writing, spoken language and explicit teaching of key skills
• How to integrate modelled and independent outcomes for reading and writing
• Support materials which can be utilised in school to support colleagues

This course is primarily aimed at English Subject Leaders to provide guidance for planning a unit of work in English which can then be utilised to support teachers in school.

It is also useful for teachers in Y1-Y6 to examine how to plan a unit of work by exploring the principles of the planning backwards approach for a unit of work in English.
