  • Andrew Taylor (Senior Teaching and Learning Consultant-Primary)

• To examine the importance of practical and visual modelling in supporting children’s understanding of mathematics.
• To explore a variety of mathematical concepts using practical and visual approaches.
• To consider progression in learning using concrete and pictorial representations prior to abstract mathematics.

The Ofsted School Inspection Handbook states that inspectors will consider whether ‘teaching models new procedures and uses resources and approaches that enable pupils to understand the mathematics they are learning’.

This course will support teachers in securing conceptual understanding through the use of practical and visual approaches. The session will focus on common areas that children find difficult, in particular place value, calculations, fractions and problem solving.

Please note the full course fee (£45) will be charged for non-attendance.

IF YOU ARE APPLYING AS AN LTA MEMBER, PLEASE NOTE: NON ATTENDANCE WILL RESULT IN A CHARGE OF £45 BEING CHARGED TO YOU.
