•To explore what reasoning in mathematics means and how it can be used to develop children’s broader and deeper understanding of the mathematics curriculum.
•To consider effective teaching strategies for reasoning and problem solving and the importance of allowing children to think for themselves.
•To discuss a range of activities and how they promote the development of reasoning alongside problem solving.

This course will explore a range of teaching strategies and will support teachers with identifying opportunities within the mathematics curriculum for developing children’s ability to reason and solve problems.
