School census

The school census is a statutory census that takes place during the autumn, spring and summer terms and collects information about individual pupils and about the schools themselves. The files in the download box at the bottom of this page detail numbers on roll at each school within the Lancashire County Council area, including their age profile, year profile and type of school. The May 2019 census showed that Lancashire had 176,513 pupils at 631 schools. 48 schools were academies and 583 maintained by Lancashire County Council.
