Lancashire County Council is responsible for administering the eligibility checks required before issuing the pupil premium and free school meals to the appropriate children across Lancashire. In order to carry out these checks Lancashire County Council will submit the information you have provided regarding your benefits situation to the Department of Education using their Eligibility Checking System.

The legal basis for processing your personal data, in accordance with the UK GDPR is:

Lancashire County Council relies on UK GDPR Article 6 (1) (c) Legal Obligation by virtue of the Education Act 1996 (Section 512).

Lancashire County Council relies on UK GDPR Article 6 (1) (c) Legal Obligation by virtue of the Data Protection Act (2018) Schedule 1 Part 2 (6) Statutory etc and government purposes.

In order to facilitate these eligibility checks Lancashire County Council will share the following categories of information with the Department of Education.
Lancashire County Council has a direct and secure link with the Department of Education's eligibility checking system which will allow us to see if your child meets the criteria to receive free school meals.
Lancashire County Council will only store your information for as long as is legally required or in situations where there is no legal retention period they will follow established best practice.
