North West Regional Improvement Partnership Conferences

  • Our Children's Social Care team are hosting three large scale conferences in Lancashire, Liverpool and Greater Manchester to share and celebrate social work practice across the North West.
  • This work is supported by the Department for Education (DfE) and North West Association of Directors of Children's Services (NWADCS) and will pilot greater collaboration and development between Local Authority Children's Social Care Services.
  • The first event took place on Thursday 14 March, where we were joined by local authority peers from Warrington, Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool, Wigan, Cumberland, and Westmoreland & Furness. The second event took place on Wednesday 20 March in Liverpool and the third and final conference is on Thursday 11 April in Greater Manchester.
  • We are sharing our experience of managing change through the successful implementation of the Family Safeguarding Model. We have seen strong attendance so far, with shared values and commitment across the North West.

Social Work Week

  • We recently celebrated the fantastic work of our social work colleagues on World Social Work Day held on Tuesday 19 March, and throughout Social Care Week, between Monday 18 March and Friday 22 March.
  • We hosted several events that recognised the wider work of our Children's Services and Adult Services teams, and it was great to see them so well attended.
  • We want to recruit more people to jobs in our Adult Services teams and your invaluable help could land you and a new employee some extra money.
  • If you tell someone about any vacancy in the Adult Services directorate and we hire them, you'll both receive £500 through our government funded Adult Services Refer a Friend scheme. The scheme will be running until the end of March 2024, meaning that you haven't got long to take advantage of this great offer.
  • Adult services roles include Social Workers, Support Workers, Residential Care Assistants, Business Support Officers, and Occupational Therapists. More information on Adult Services jobs can be found on our careers page.

Employee Conferences – webcast available

  • We recorded one of the Employee Conferences at County Hall for anyone who may have missed the session.
  • Please follow the links to watch the session back. We have split the recording into two sections, the presentation from Angieand the question and answer session.
  • We hold the conferences twice a year in venues around the county.
  • The next round of conferences will run in September, if you have any suggestions for locations, style and format, please email communications@lancashire.gov.uk.
