POWAR participation group

POWAR is Lancashire County Council's participation council group for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

POWAR stands for: Participate, Opportunity, Win, Achieve and Respect

Participation is giving individual young people and groups of young people the opportunity to influence decision-making and bring about change.

What we do:

  • We meet at venues across Lancashire and every month at County Hall in Preston
  • We always play games and eat together
  • People visit us to ask what you think about various issues and topics
  • We do surveys and questionnaires to helpĀ organisations
  • We hold discussions and activities on various topics
  • You set the agenda

Barnardo's helps organise POWAR so if you would like to hear more about the group or would like to come along please ring 01772 629 470 and ask to speak to a member of the Participation Team or see the newsletter on theĀ Barnardo's website for meeting dates.
