Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships are a great way to learn while working and earning a wage. You'll gain practical skills on the job and attend college or a training provider one day a week.
Apprenticeships are available in a range of industries and subjects, last for at least 8 months, and are open to anyone aged 16 and above.
As an apprentice you will be a paid employee and have other employment rights, such as holiday pay. Pay rates depend on your age and how far you are in your apprenticeship.

Working in early years
Early years professionals have the incredible opportunity to shape young minds during the most crucial development stages of a child's life. If you’re a parent, or someone who has supported and cared for children, you are likely to already have the right skills to get started in childcare. Working in a childcare setting, you can be part of a team, lead a team or be your own boss and become a childminder. Explore exciting career opportunities in early years today.
Childcare
Balancing family life with work is tough, but you can access 15-30 hours childcare with a local nursery, pre-school or childminder.
Support is available for working parents of children from 9 months to 4 years with extra help through Universal Credit Childcare and Tax-Free Childcare. Even if you aren’t currently working, you could be eligible for childcare support from 2 years old to give your child the best start in life.
For those with primary school aged children, you could benefit from an increase in wraparound childcare before and after school. Tax-Free Childcare can be used to help pay for wraparound childcare also. Whether you need childcare for work, study, or to learn a new skill, don't miss out on this opportunity for you and your child.
