Journeys
Summer is the time to be outside, and it has never been easier to get around our beautiful county.
Getting about by bus and train
Our vast bus network can help you and your family get from A to B at a low cost. You can use our bus timetables to find the right route for you and plan your journey on the Traveline website with ease.
With reduced evening and Sunday fares, we can help you to go further for less. You can also use daily and weekly tickets on our supported services with handy duo and family deals to reduce costs. Find all our fares and promotions, or if you're travelling in or around Preston or the Fylde coast, check out our AnyBus smartcard.
If you are an older person or have a disability and you live in Lancashire (including Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool), have you heard about NoWCard? This is a bus pass to help you to get out and about across the county for free outside of peak travel hours – find out more and see if you're eligible for NoWcard.
If you're going by train, check out the family ticket on the Northern website, which offers the chance to travel with your whole family, up to six people, for one top value price.
A great option for exploring the Fylde coast is to look into the combined train, tram and bus ticket on the Northern website, offering seamless onward travel opportunities to and from Blackpool's main stations.
Cycling and walking
More and more people are choosing to walk and cycle for shorter local journeys. If you want to step up your physical activity or would like to contribute to a greener and healthier local environment, why not check out our active travel page? From countryside, canal and river walks to walking through our woodlands, coasts and towns. Find out more on our exploring page.
Free cycle training sessions for all ages are available in several districts across the county in the summer holidays. To find out what's available near you, email roadsafetyeducation@lancashire.gov.uk or call 01772 537960.

Travel by car
Travelling by car? We have you covered too. We're well connected here in Lancashire and, within less than an hour, you can reach the stunning Pennines to do some outdoor exploring, take the little ones to local beaches or enjoy a day of shopping and lunch in nearby towns. Go to the Visit Lancashire website to plot your route.
Wanting to do some shopping in Preston or Lancaster but don't want the hassle of finding a car park? Use our park and ride services to make your day that little bit easier.
Whether it’s a family holiday, a spontaneous coastal drive, or a long journey to the airport, make sure you gave a safe T.R.I.P - Top-up, Rest, Inspect, Prepare.
Highway maintenance
Whilst you're exploring the county, we’ll be focused on keeping our roads functioning safely. You can help us do this by reporting any potholes or other problems.
Resurfacing works will be taking place over summer because it's the perfect weather to carry out this work. Keep this in mind when planning your journeys as there might be delays. We advise to plan ahead for your trip and for travelling in hot weather.
You can have your say about how we deliver our highway service, and tell us what’s most important to you, by completing the highways satisfaction survey.
