Based at County Hall in Preston with some hybrid-working.

£73,580 - £80,468 pa

About the role

Reporting to the Director for Law and Governance you’ll be Deputy Monitoring Officer and will work closely with elected members and colleagues to shape and deliver efficient and effective legal services across the whole council and with partners. You’ll ensure that Lancashire has a strong ethical and compliance culture and transparent governance while also understanding the changing environment and marketplaces that the council operates within.

Coming into a new position you’ll have the opportunity to make your mark by working corporately across the whole organisation as well as shaping the resources directorate to ensure that the enabling services are the council’s engine room.

And as the council’s new head of legal you will be specifically tasked with ensuring Lancashire has appropriate and transparent governance while also understanding the changing environment and marketplaces that councils now need to work in.

This role calls for a legal services professional who can successfully operate as the Deputy Monitoring Officer in a large and complex political environment.
