Term 2 ideas for JRSA's

The Department of Transport is running a campaign through to the end of Spring Term on Speeding as this is a major contributory factor in road traffic collisions with 137 young people injured or killed each week. Acoording to the Department of transport speed related factors account for over half of all fatal collisions in Great Britain.

it would be useful for the JRSA to focus on the theme of speed this term. We have provided some suggestions and resources to support them with this. Alternatively they could pick a theme that is a local theme of concern for their wider school community and use the banner competition outlined to enable them to have a focus on their chosen theme.

Speed was a focus for the Brake campaign in 2020 and the powerpoint below is from this campaign. We have adapted the guidance to allow the JRSA's to use the powerpoint to hold an assembly with KS2 which focuses on Speed. 

JRSA's could organise a banner/slogans competition that encourages the wider school community to think about their speed in the vicinity of school or in the surrounding area.
