Course Overview
This course is designed for employees who drive any vehicles and tow gritter trailers within their job role. The course also gives legal advice and guidance when towing or loading trailers.

Course Aim
This course has been developed to ensure that drivers for L.C.C are aware of the legal implications and potential hazards involved with gritter trailer usage and the policies and procedures in place within L.C.C.
Learning Objectives
The learning objectives are to create:
- Improvements in L.C.C driving standards
- Improvements in performance and efficiency
- A reduction in L.C.C vehicle & trailer incidents, maintenance and associated costs
Learning Outcomes
The candidates will have an understanding of the following:
- Individual driving and towing entitlement
- Awareness of possible hazards involved in gritter trailer usage activities
- Avoiding dangers in gritter trailer operations
- Roles and legal responsibilities of driver and how to comply with current legislation
- Pre-use trailer checks and defect reporting procedures
Learners to demonstrate practical knowledge using a provided vehicle and trailer
Learning Methods
A range of teaching and learning methods including presentation, demonstration, will be used with a focus on individual and group participation, including a practical element.
Course Effectiveness
The underpinning knowledge and understanding is evaluated by question and answer sessions throughout the course culminating with a final re-cap quiz.
The Learning & Development centre will be responsible for keeping records of attendance on this course and maintaining the standard of delivery and making improvements from trainee and trainer feedback.
