3 Day - Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work Course (OP Service) - OP0001

Who is this course for?

This 3 day training is mandatory for all the Registered Managers, Assistant Managers, Day Care Officers and Senior Care Assistants in Residential and Day Time Support in the Older People Service.


Please note that this course is for people who have not undertaken this training previously. The certificate is valid for three years after which you need to do the 2 day Refresher training. For any queries contact Sue Dyson


Covid 19 Secure: Please note no food/refreshments can be purchased or provided at the venues. Applicants will need to bring their own food and drink and take their empty packaging home to be disposed of off-site.

Aims

Emergency First Aid at Work aims to provide learners with the skills and knowledge to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill while at work. Assessment is based on practical activities covered throughout the day.
On successful completion, learners will be issued with a certificate and ID type card which are valid for 3 years.

Objectives

By the end of the course the participant will be able to:

• Describe your actions in an emergency
• Demonstrate adult resuscitation
• Demonstrate the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• Explain the management of adult choking
• Demonstrate the management of the unconscious casualty
• Describe how to recognise and treat bleeding and shock
• Explain the treatment of minor and major injuries
• Know how to deal with heart attacks and stroke
• Describe treatment of injuries to bones, muscles and joints
• Describe treatment of suspected spinal injuries
