Aims
This webinar will inform parents/carers about the importance of movement and the link between physical activity, brain development and regulation. They will learn about the different sensory systems, the need to support missed development opportunities and given practical ideas to encourage physical activity and play with their children

Objectives

  • Explain the key stages of brain development in children and how physical activity supports these stages.
  • Identify different types of physical activities that are developmentally appropriate for various age groups.
  • Describe the cognitive, emotional, and social benefits of regular physical activity in early childhood and adolescence.
  • Recognise signs of insufficient physical activity and its potential impact on attention, behaviour, and learning.
  • Develop a simple, personalised action plan to increase physical activity at home or in caregiving settings.
  • Access local and online resources to support ongoing physical activity and healthy development.
