Course Aims:
- To explore the golden threads of science and how they run through the phases including key stage three and four so that teachers become more familiar with prior learning and existing science schema.
- To investigate the use of a variety of whole class formative assessment strategies that will help to diagnose fluency and mastery in learning and therefore expose any gaps in that learning.
- To provide science teachers with a selection of practical strategies to use in the school science laboratory that will enable the successful identification of gaps in substantive and disciplinary knowledge.

This course is aimed at staff who wish to improve their assessment of student progress, specifically in diagnosing the fluency and mastery of prior learning and the progress in current learning.
