  • Steph Johnson (Senior Teaching and Learning Consultant)

The course will examine the following:
- The importance of positive relationships and high quality teaching for all.
- The challenges faced by our disadvantaged learners which prevent them from fully accessing learning including lack of resilience, lack of cultural capital, delayed language, behaviour and attitudes to learning.
- Practical strategies to implement to help all children access learning fully and to close gaps in attainment.

This brand new course will consider the challenges facing so many of our children and families and the impact this is having on learning and attainment.

It will consider the importance of building positive relationships and of prior and formative assessment and will examine a range of strategies for addressing the challenges many of our pupils face due to low resilience, language barriers, lack of cultural capital and access to wider opportunities.

There will be opportunities to share successful strategies which schools have already implemented and reflect on how these can be further enhanced and developed.
