- Monitor and evaluate standards in PE using clear processes and evidence informed approaches.
- Assess pupils confidently and accurately, identifying those working at, above or below the expected standard.
- Use assessment information to inform short, medium and long term planning, as well as whole school curriculum mapping.
- Understand expected standards, key knowledge, and progression of skills across each key stage and each area of PE.
- Identify effective ways to evidence teaching and learning in PE, including pupil progress, curriculum coverage and quality of provision.
- Apply the Lancashire Progression of Skills document and PE Passport App to support high quality subject leadership and raise standards.
This half day training session supports PE subject leaders in strengthening their understanding of national curriculum expectations and developing effective systems for monitoring, assessment and curriculum planning in Physical Education.
Delegates will explore the Lancashire Progression of Skills document and the Lancashire PE Passport Platform to support accurate judgement of standards, ensure consistency across key stages, and drive improvements in teaching and learning. The course provides practical strategies for evaluating the quality of PE provision, evidencing pupil progress and identifying next steps for curriculum development.
Through discussion, reflection and hands on tools, PE subject leaders will gain greater confidence in assessing pupils working at, above, or below the expected standard, and learn how to use assessment outcomes to inform planning, curriculum mapping and long term subject leadership.
