Are you a secondary English teacher looking to refresh or strengthen your grammatical subject knowledge? This practical course is designed specifically to build and consolidate teachers' understanding of grammar, with a particular focus on the core components that underpin the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum at both the word and sentence level.
Practical and engaging sessions will focus on strengthening foundational knowledge of word classes, phrases, sentence structure and different types of sentences. This will equip teachers to build effectively on Key Stage 2 English in their teaching of grammar in context at Key Stage 3 and 4 to improve students' writing outcomes and their analysis of fiction and non-fiction texts.
This course also serves as an excellent precursor to 'Explicitly teaching grammar for excellent writing outcomes in Secondary English', which will run later in the year - perfect for teachers seeking a coherent, sustained approach to grammar pedagogy.
