How can secondary English teachers ensure that students with SEND and students with other barriers to learning thrive in the subject? This course will help you to develop a toolkit of practical strategies to support SEND students in English, ensuring that students are empowered to develop independence, resilience and success in the subject due to appropriate, timely scaffolding and support. The course will also examine how the curriculum can be planned to consolidate foundational knowledge at Key Stage 3 that will build effectively on Key Stage 2 and benefit the quality of students' reading, writing and oracy. Finally, delegates will consider how teaching assistants and English teachers can work collaboratively to secure positive outcomes for students with SEND.
