This programme includes:
English Publication Bridging Unit - The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe - a full unit of work which can be delivered in autumn 1 (prior to the start of Talk Programme training). This is optional.

- CPD Day 1 – an exemplified unit of work on legends (4-5 weeks), to be delivered in the autumn term, with a comprehensive resource pack.

- CPD Day 2 – an exemplified science-fiction unit of work using a range of texts, including an integrated poetry sequence (5-6 weeks), to be delivered in the spring term, with a comprehensive resource pack.

- CPD Day 3 – an exemplified narrative poetry unit of work based on Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll (5-6 weeks), to be delivered in the summer term, with a comprehensive resource pack.

- Three half-day update sessions with a focus on key skills alongside moderation training and workshops in the autumn, spring and summer terms. Models of moderation will be explored which can be utilised back in school.

I have really enjoyed the Talk Five programme. Three fantastic units which fully engaged my boy heavy class. Brilliantly delivered by very knowledgeable speakers! I am excited to teach the units again next year and to adapt my other units using some of the taught techniques. Thank you! (Talk Five delegate 2026)

Thank you for such an engaging, informative course. As a school we feel that we have learnt so much from the sessions. Most importantly, the pupils have really enjoyed the lessons and have made good progress from their starting points at the beginning of the year. They are now proud to share their work with all staff in the school! (Talk Five delegate from a Special School 2026)

I’d like to thank the course leaders. They made the resources easily accessible and created a comfortable environment. Linked to previous learning and how it links further into Year 6. They have given me more confidence with my English teaching and made me excited to teach each unit when coming away from the course. Thank you Louise and Sarah!
