This 3-part course is for staff working with international new arrivals and more advanced EAL learners and would particularly suit those with capacity to deliver small group interventions. It consists of 3 sessions with opportunities to implement ideas in school in between sessions.
The training covers how to plan and deliver small group interventions, and delegates will learn how to support EAL and new arrivals in the mainstream classroom.
Part A) We will look at the theory behind second language acquisition and language development.
Part B) Delivering small group interventions to EAL learners, supporting EAL Learners in the mainstream, and assessment using EAL frameworks.
Part C) Practical strategies for developing English proficiency.
It will consider strategies and resources that can be used when working in class and in small group situations, such as barrier games, collaborative learning activities, speaking/writing frames and many others.
