This essential course is designed for all Year 2 teachers and provides the latest guidance on effective end of Key Stage 1 assessment following the removal of statutory data submission. The session will help teachers build secure, confident assessment practice rooted in national expectations.
We will explore what effective provision and assessment look like in reading and writing, including how to gather meaningful evidence and make accurate teacher assessment judgements. You will have opportunities to reflect on children’s progress, consider how to use assessment information purposefully, and discuss strategies that support pupils in achieving age related outcomes.
There will also be the opportunity to take part in KS1 Writing moderation, using standardisation materials to support consistency and accuracy in judgement making. Participants will compare evidence, discuss borderline cases, and deepen their understanding of national standards. Please bring examples of writing from a child who is currently on track to meet end of year expectations.
This course may also benefit Assessment Coordinators and Headteachers, offering valuable insights into effective assessment strategies and the development of secure teacher assessment across Key Stage 1.
