Course Aims:
• Build confidence in planning, teaching and assessing high quality primary dance.
• Understand progression in dance and how to support pupils’ development.
• Learn how to teach key dance skills and simple choreographic techniques.
• Use the Lancashire PE Passport Scheme and Dance to School resources effectively.
• Make meaningful cross curricular links through creative dance activities.
This practical, creative and high-impact course is designed to develop primary teachers’ confidence, knowledge and skill in delivering high quality dance within the PE curriculum. Through a mixture of practical exploration, guided planning, and clear progression frameworks, teachers will deepen their understanding of how to plan, teach and assess engaging dance activities that inspire all pupils.
Using the Lancashire PE Passport Scheme of Work units and Dance to School resources, participants will learn how to structure creative lessons, teach essential dance skills, and support pupils to choreograph and refine their own work. The course also highlights how dance can make powerful cross-curricular links, enabling teachers to deliver greater depth and meaningful learning experiences.
This course includes practical elements—participants should come dressed appropriately for movement.
