This series of twilight sessions will provide an opportunity for non-maths-specialists who already have experience of teaching maths in a secondary school to
• Develop their subject knowledge to become confident in teaching at GCSE grade 4 and beyond
• Become familiar with the most up to date maths pedagogy
• Network and share experiences and resources with colleagues in a similar role
Topics covered will include quadratic and simultaneous equations, advanced probability, advanced trigonometry, circle theorems and vector geometry.
This series is designed for experienced non specialist teachers of secondary mathematics who already have classroom experience and wish to deepen their subject knowledge to confidently teach Higher tier GCSE content. It is not an introductory course. Teachers who are new to teaching maths or who currently teach mainly lower attaining groups would benefit more from NUM242 Starting Strong in Secondary Maths.
Sessions focus on teaching the maths itself, supported by clear explanations and worked examples. Participants can attend the sessions most relevant to their existing knowledge and development needs. For individual session details, please check the Schools Portal or email secondary.consultants@lancashire.gov.uk
