The benefits of being active and eating well

An active life and a healthy diet can reduce your risk of major illnesses. By doing regular exercise you can lower the risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, stroke, digestive/bowel problems and mental health issues.

It can also boost your confidence and self-esteem, sleep quality and mood and can make people feel less isolated and lonely.

There are some services in Lancashire that are designed to help patients who have medical conditions or symptoms that could be improved with physical activity.   

To find out what is available to you in your area, you can ask a health professional, such as your GP and they may be able to refer you to a suitable programme. You can also refer yourself, or go through an initial assessment, by contacting the service provider in your area.
