Ecology

Lancashire County Council’s Ecologists help shape the council’s strategies, policies, decisions, projects, and maintenance plans. Their work makes sure the council follows all laws and national policies about ecology, biodiversity, and wildlife protection.

This includes:

Giving ecological advice to planning officers
Advising on ecological impact assessments, design, and steps to reduce harm for council infrastructure projects
Helping with Lancashire’s Biological Heritage Site system. These are county wildlife sites chosen by the Biological Heritage Site Partnership (See Lancashire Ecological Records Network website)
