Lancashire Quality Award – Leading a Successful team

The quality of provision is directly related to the quality of leadership.

This module looks at ways in which the leader can empower other members of the team.

Consideration is given to a set of module standards and how to further improve and develop practice in these areas:

  1. Good recruitment and selection procedures are in place which reflect equal opportunities and employment legislation

  2. There are good induction procedures for new staff, volunteers and students

  3. There are good procedures in place for managing and supporting students and volunteers

  4. Staff deployment has regard for adult: child ratios, staff experience and the needs of children. Shared leadership promotes effective teamwork

  5. There is a strong commitment to keeping practitioners informed of developments both within the setting and nationally

  6. All staff are involved in writing, monitoring and reviewing policies and procedures

  7. There are effective systems for supervision, appraisal and peer observation

  8. There are good systems in place for supporting staff

  9. There are good procedures for assessing staff’s training needs and there is a strong commitment to staff training and development. Practitioners are enabled to undertake further relevant qualifications

  10. Change is managed well
