Data protection complaints

Your right to complain about how we use your data

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your personal information, you have the right to make a complaint. You can contact us by emailing DPO@lancashire.gov.uk

From June 2026, you can raise a data protection complaint directly with us, and in most cases you will be expected to do so before escalating the matter to the ICO.

We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, investigate your concerns and provide you with a response as quickly as possible.

If you’re not satisfied

If you’re unhappy with our response, you can contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). They usually expect you to give us the opportunity to resolve your complaint before contacting them.
