Annex 1 - Public transport concessions for young people

Transdev (Lancashire Bus)

Transdev run several bus services throughout East Lancashire in and around Burnley, Pendle, Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and Rossendale, with regular services to and across North Manchester, Preston, Bolton, Chorley and North and West Yorkshire.

Various bus operators are part of Transdev, such as Rosso, Burnley Bus Company and Blackburn Bus Company. Whilst there is no single universal student discounted ticket across the bus services which operate under Transdev, the separate operators do offer discounted tickets for under 19s. College students with an ID can also purchase a termly pass.

Arriva

Arriva operate Arriva Student Saver tickets for anyone in post 16 full time education with a valid student ID. This entitles the holder to discounted fares, unlimited travel on most Arriva services all day, every day and there is a choice of tickets – daily, weekly, termly or for the academic year.

Blackpool Transport

Operates bus routes across Fleetwood, Thornton Cleveleys, Poulton-le-Fylde, Blackpool and Lytham St Annes.

A Blackpool Transport 16-21 Young Person ticket can be purchased for a day, 3 days, a week, 30 days or a year. Proof of age is required to purchase and travel with a 16-21 Young Person ticket.

For students enrolled at either Blackpool and the Fylde College or The Blackpool Sixth Form College, Blackpool Transport College Student tickets are also available.

Lancashire County Council's tendered local bus service network

The county council offers under 19's reduced fares on the tendered local bus service network across the county, covering many rural and urban communities. Discounted day and weekly tickets are also available for unlimited travel on these bus services.

Preston Bus

Information on bus services/routes and tickets, including those available for young people under the age of 19, can be found on the website provided below. Information is also available on Preston Bus college services. Discounted tickets can be purchased from student services at these colleges.

Stagecoach

Services are operated in North and South Lancashire and Stagecoach student bus passes and tickets are available. A current student ID card with a photo is required to buy a Stagecoach student ticket.
