Best Start in Life Local Plan

Every child deserves the best possible start. In Lancashire, we’re working together to make sure children grow, learn and thrive. Right from pregnancy through to starting school.

Our Best Start in Life Local Plan sets out how we will support families. The aim is that more children are ready for school by 2028. The plan brings services together. These include health, early education, Family Hubs and community organisations. This will make it easier for you to get the right help when you need it.

Here’s what the plan focuses on:

Family Hubs

Friendly, local places where families can get advice, support and activities, with extra help available in the areas that need it most.

Clear support pathways

Simple, joined‑up routes to support from pregnancy to school age, including extra help for families who may need it.

Working together

We’re strengthening the way services, professionals, families and communities work together. Support will feel connected and easier to navigate.

A skilled team

We’re investing in our workforce. This means that the people supporting your family are confident, well‑trained and consistent.

Our aim is simple: to give every child in Lancashire the best start in life, so they’re happy, healthy and ready for school.
