Activities

I have been lucky enough to attend a large number of events and meetings with older people and their groups across Lancashire since the beginning of the new year.

I visited Hesketh Bank Community Centre, as well as the Sporting Memories Group who meet at the Lancashire Football Association's HQ in Leyland. This was a fantastic place, as was the Friday Luncheon Club, where older people in the area were invited to a free 3 course meal. This was a brilliant way to bring people in the community together to socialise, and the food donations from local stores and businesses was well received by the older people who attended.

My final visit in January was a teaching session in Preston, called "Living with Loneliness" – this was fantastic. It was so informative and the older people who attended the event said how helpful it was for them. I believe this would be a beneficial session for so many older people across Lancashire, and I hope to attend another of their teachings with more of our residents in the future.

I now look forward to more events in the coming weeks.
