School bus season tickets

1. Overview

You can buy a season ticket for use on Lancashire County Council's contracted school services where spaces are available.

With a season ticket you can save up to 20% of the cost of the daily return fare. You can also spread the cost if you choose to pay by direct debit.

Season ticket applications for September 2020 and COVID-19.

Lancashire County Council currently provides school bus services for students entitled to free home to school transport or school transport assistance. If space is available, other students may travel on these services by buying a season ticket or paying a fare.

You can now apply for a season ticket for the next academic year. However, we may not be able to offer as many seats for season ticket holders and fare payers as we usually would.

We do not yet know what schools plans are for September or what social distancing measures will be needed.

Based on demand pre-COVID-19, it may not be possible to provide extra bus services to meet social distancing guidelines.

The county council recommends that students (aged 11 years and over) wear face coverings on dedicated school transport services. Students travelling on commercial public transport services must wear a face covering in line with government advice unless they are in an exempt category. We encourage pupils and parents to look at alternatives to the school bus service, such as walking or cycling.

For now, we will continue to process children's Season Ticket applications as normal. Please return your child's application in good time. Once we know how many seats are available on a service, season tickets will be issued on a first come, first served basis.

Please note: from September 2020 the services listed below will no longer be provided by Lancashire County Council. All schools affected by the withdrawal of these services have been notified and are exploring options to provide alternative transport.

Please contact the school if you have any questions
